The story of the farmer and the snake is a classic fable from Aesop. Here is the English version of the story:

Once upon a time, a farmer found a snake frozen and shivering in the snow. The farmer felt sorry for the snake and decided to take it home to warm it up. The snake warmed up and, feeling grateful, it decided to bite the farmer as a sign of its gratitude.

The farmer was surprised and exclaimed, “You ungrateful creature! I saved your life, and this is how you repay me?”

The snake replied, “But you see, I am a snake. It is my nature to bite. I cannot help it.”

The farmer realized that he had made a mistake. He should not have interfered with the natural behavior of the snake. From that day on, the farmer learned to respect the natural instincts of animals and never again tried to change them.
