Once upon a time, in a small village, there was a little girl named Lily. Lily was in the third grade and loved learning new things. Every day, she would walk to school with her best friend, Max.

One sunny morning, Lily and Max were on their way to school when they saw a small, lost puppy. The puppy was shaking and looking very sad. Lily’s heart went out to the little creature, and she decided to help it.

“Hello, little puppy,” Lily said gently. “Are you lost? Do you need help?”

The puppy wagged its tail and looked up at Lily with big, hopeful eyes. Lily knew she couldn’t leave the puppy alone, so she took it under her arm and continued walking to school.

At school, Lily’s teacher, Mrs. Green, saw the puppy and asked what was happening. Lily explained the situation, and Mrs. Green was very kind. She allowed Lily to keep the puppy in her classroom until they could find its owner.

Lily named the puppy “Buddy” and spent the rest of the day showing him around the school. Buddy was curious and loved exploring, and he quickly made friends with the other students.

That afternoon, as they were leaving school, a woman ran up to Mrs. Green and asked if anyone had found her lost dog. Mrs. Green showed her Buddy, and the woman’s eyes lit up with joy.

“It’s my dog! Thank you so much!” the woman said, hugging Lily and Buddy tightly.

The woman took Buddy home, and Lily felt a warm glow inside. She had helped a lost puppy find its way back home, and she was proud of herself.

From that day on, Lily and Max made it a point to always keep an eye out for lost animals. They knew that with a little kindness and care, they could make a big difference in someone’s life.

And so, the little girl with the big heart continued her journey through third grade, with her best friend by her side and a new friend by her paw. The end.
