Once upon a time, in a small village nestled between rolling hills, there lived a humble farmer named John. John was known for his hard work and kindness, but he was also quite greedy.

One sunny morning, John found a golden egg in his henhouse. Excited, he thought, “What luck! This will make my life much easier.” Every day, he collected the golden egg, and his wealth grew.

However, the more golden eggs he found, the more greedy he became. He started to think that the hen could produce more eggs if only it worked harder. So, John decided to force the hen to lay more eggs.

He tied the hen to a post and whipped it with a stick, but the hen was exhausted and could no longer lay eggs. The other villagers noticed John’s cruelty and sympathy for the hen grew. They gathered around and pleaded with John to free the hen.

John, feeling guilty, released the hen. The hen was grateful and, as a sign of her gratitude, she laid a regular egg. John was disappointed, but he realized that true happiness comes from kindness and not from greed.

Moral: Greed leads to suffering, while kindness brings happiness.

And so, the villagers lived in harmony, appreciating the value of kindness over wealth.
