Once upon a time, in ancient China, there was a beautiful and clever girl named Chang’e. She was the daughter of the Chief of the Moon Palace. Chang’e was very interested in the stars and the moon, and she often gazed at the sky, dreaming of one day reaching the moon.
One day, the Emperor of China was looking for a way to celebrate the 50th anniversary of his reign. He decided to hold a grand festival, and he needed a special gift to present to the gods. The Emperor asked his advisors for suggestions, and they recommended that he send a human to the moon to offer a sacrifice to the Moon God.
The Emperor knew that this was a dangerous mission, but he believed that it would bring great honor to his kingdom. He called for Chang’e and told her about the mission. To his surprise, Chang’e eagerly volunteered to go.
The Emperor was pleased with her bravery and agreed to let her go. He gathered the best scientists and engineers in the land to build a spacecraft for Chang’e. After many months of hard work, they finally completed the spacecraft, which was named “Yuewang” (Moon King).
On the day of the launch, the entire kingdom gathered to watch Chang’e’s journey. As the spacecraft lifted off, the crowd cheered and waved goodbye. Chang’e looked up at the moon, feeling a mix of excitement and fear.
The journey to the moon was long and difficult. Chang’e had to endure the cold, darkness, and loneliness of space. But she never gave up, and she kept her eyes on the moon, which seemed to guide her way.
Finally, after days of traveling, Chang’e arrived at the moon. She stepped out of the spacecraft and looked around. The moon was a vast, barren landscape, with mountains and craters everywhere. She felt a sense of awe and wonder as she took in the beauty of her new home.
Chang’e knew that she had to fulfill her mission and offer a sacrifice to the Moon God. She found a place near the Sea of Rainbows and prepared the offering. As she placed the sacrifice on the ground, she felt a surge of energy flow through her body.
Suddenly, the Moon God appeared before her. He was a tall, majestic figure with a golden crown and a flowing robe. The Moon God thanked Chang’e for her bravery and offered her a place in the moon’s palace, where she would live forever.
Chang’e was overjoyed, but she knew that she couldn’t leave her family and friends behind. She asked the Moon God if she could return to Earth, and he agreed, but only if she promised to visit the moon every year on the night of the Mid-Autumn Festival.
Since that day, Chang’e has become a symbol of love and longing for the Chinese people. Every year on the Mid-Autumn Festival, they look up at the moon and remember the brave girl who reached for the stars and brought light to their lives.
And so, the story of Chang’e and the moon has been passed down through generations, a beautiful tale of courage, determination, and love.
