However, Hou Yi was too modest to consume it alone, so he decided to share it with his closest companions. Unfortunately, his jealous rival, Feng Meng, learned of this plan and snuck into Hou Yi’s house to steal the potion.
When Hou Yi returned home, he found the potion missing. In a fit of rage, he chased Feng Meng, who fled to the sky. In an attempt to escape, Feng Meng swallowed the potion, causing him to become immortal and transform into a nine-headed bird, known as the Phoenix.
Hou Yi, feeling guilty for the chaos caused by the potion, decided to consume it himself. However, before he could do so, Chang’e noticed him and warned him of the consequences. In a desperate attempt to save her husband, Chang’e swallowed the potion as well.
As a result, Chang’e was transformed into a moon, and Hou Yi was left on Earth, yearning for his wife. Since then, the moon has been a symbol of love and longing in Chinese culture, and the story of Chang’e has been passed down through generations.
The story of Chang’e Flying to the Moon is not only a beautiful myth but also a powerful symbol of love, sacrifice, and the eternal bond between husband and wife. It reminds us of the importance of loyalty, compassion, and the pursuit of immortality.
