Once upon a time, in a small village, there was a wise old man who had a magical garden. This garden was filled with all sorts of wonderful vegetables, but the most special of them all was a giant萝卜 (luóbo) that grew at the edge of the garden.
One sunny morning, the old man noticed that the giant萝卜 was ready to be pulled out of the ground. He decided it was time to harvest it, as the village needed the nutrients from this mighty vegetable. However, the old man was quite small in stature, and he knew that he would need some help to pull out the giant萝卜.
He went to the village square and called out, “Who can help me pull out the giant萝卜 from my magical garden?”
A group of children gathered around, excited to help. The old man pointed to a small, determined girl named Lily. “Lily, you are the bravest and strongest girl in the village. Can you help me pull out the giant萝卜?”
Lily nodded eagerly and grabbed the handle of the old man’s spade. “I can do it, Mr. Old! Let’s go!”
The old man and Lily worked together, digging around the giant萝卜 to loosen the soil. The other children cheered them on, and soon the giant萝卜 was free from the ground.
But oh no! The giant萝卜 was so heavy that it wouldn’t budge. The old man and Lily tried their best, but the萝卜 was stuck fast.
“Maybe we need more help,” the old man suggested. He turned to the other children and asked, “Who else can join us?”
One by one, the children came forward. There was Tom, the fastest runner; Alice, the strongest girl; and Ben, the cleverest boy. Together, they formed a chain and began to pull on the giant萝卜.
With all their might, they pulled and pulled. The ground trembled, and the villagers gathered to watch the incredible sight. Finally, with a great heave, the giant萝卜 came loose from the ground.
The children cheered even louder as the old man and Lily pushed the giant萝卜 towards the village. They all celebrated, knowing that the nutrients from this magical vegetable would keep the village healthy and strong.
And so, the old man’s magical garden continued to thrive, and the children of the village learned that when they work together, they can achieve great things.
The end.
