Here is an English translation of a classic Aesop’s fable:

The Tortoise and the Hare

Once upon a time, there was a race between a tortoise and a hare. The tortoise was slow and steady, while the hare was fast but lazy. The two animals decided to have a race to see who was the fastest.

On the day of the race, the tortoise and the hare were both at the starting line. The tortoise took his time getting ready, while the hare rushed to get in the lead. He thought, “I’m so fast, I can win this race easily. I’ll take a nap during the race and still win.”

The race began, and the hare took off like a shot, leaving the tortoise far behind. The hare ran and ran, laughing at the tortoise’s slow pace. He decided to take a nap under a tree, thinking he had plenty of time to catch up to the tortoise.

While the hare was sleeping, the tortoise kept plodding along. He didn’t stop or rest, just kept moving forward. Finally, the tortoise reached the finish line and won the race.

The hare woke up from his nap and saw the tortoise crossing the finish line. He was amazed and asked, “How did you win? I was so sure I would win!”

The tortoise replied, “It’s simple. I was steady and patient, while you were proud and lazy. Slow and steady wins the race.”

And so, the moral of the story is: “Pride goes before a fall, and slow and steady wins the race.”
