《The Tortoise and the Hare》
Once upon a time, there was a race between a slow-moving tortoise and a swift hare. The tortoise was known for his steady pace, while the hare was famous for his incredible speed.
One sunny morning, the tortoise and the hare decided to have a race. They agreed on a starting line and a finishing line, and a crowd gathered to watch the race.
The hare, being so confident in his speed, decided to take a shortcut. He thought, “I’ll run the straight path and then cut across the field to win the race easily.” So, he took off at a full sprint, leaving the tortoise far behind.
The tortoise, not wanting to lose, continued to move slowly but steadily towards the finishing line. He knew that if he kept his pace, he would eventually reach the goal.
As the hare ran the shortcut, he felt tired and decided to take a nap under a tree. He thought, “I have plenty of time. The tortoise is so slow; he’ll never catch up.”
Meanwhile, the tortoise kept moving, not knowing that the hare was taking a break. He slowly but surely approached the finishing line.
Finally, the tortoise reached the finishing line first, to the surprise of everyone who had gathered to watch. The hare, still sleeping, was awakened by the crowd’s cheers.
The hare was embarrassed and ashamed. He realized that his pride had caused him to underestimate the tortoise’s determination and steady pace.
The moral of the story is: “Slow and steady wins the race.” It teaches us that patience and perseverance often lead to success, while overconfidence and taking shortcuts can lead to failure.
